The ABN-AMRO Bank team defeated Bank Alfalah by 10-7 and lifted the National Polo Championship Quaid-e-Azam Gold Cup trophy here at the Aibak Polo ground of the Lahore Polo Club on Sunday.
Rangers LG beat Lindt Chocolate 10-9 to finish third. As many as two thousand spectators were present in the ground and back both the teams. The final proved to be a one-sided tie in the first three chukkers when ABN-Amro team was leading by a margin of 9-2 but the Bank Alfalah team fought back and won the next two chukkers with distinction but failed to save the match.
Jose Rivas from Argentine scored s many as six goals ably supported by Hisam Ali Hayder who scored four goals. Garcia scored all the seven goals for the Bank Alfalah. He was marked in the first three chukkers but managed to make gaps and played brilliantly.
Pakistan Polo Association Chairman Major General Bilal Omer and Argentine Ambassador Rodolfo J Martin Saravia ware the chief guest and gave away the prizes to the players.
Hissam Ali Hayder was declared most valuable player of the tournament from Pakistan side while Jose Rivas won the award from Argentine side. The ABN- Amro team comprised of Sufi M Aamir, Hissam Ali Hyder, Jose Rivas and Sufi M Haris.
