Opener Salman Butt and middle-order batsman Misbah-ul-Haq guided Punjab team to a high-scoring draw with centuries against North West Frontier Province (NWFP) on the final day of the Pentangular Cup match here at the Gaddafi Stadium on Monday.
Salman played a brilliant knock of 117 runs studded with 18 boundaries to score his second century of the tournament. Misbah scored an unbeaten century and Punjab managed to score 340 runs for the loss of four wickets when the umpires called off the match. Butt lost fellow opener Hafeez in the beginning but produced a stand of 136 with Nasir Jamshed (59) and 90 with Misbah.
Salman was adjudged leg before wicket when the Punjab score was 227. Misbah continued his fine work till the end of the day with an unbeaten 100 off just 108 balls. NWFP gained three points on first innings lead basis are now tied with Punjab. Punjab had scored 354 in the first innings while NWFP replied with 446. Wahab Riaz took five wickets to dismiss NWFP - who took three points from their lead.
